OUR MISSION
Bike Berkeley High (BBH) is a student-run organization that promotes safe, easy, and fun bicycle-based transportation for Berkeley High School students—and everyone in our city. Our vision is a future where bicycle and e-bike transportation is given fair weighting and public support. Bike Berkeley High gives voice to the pro-bike younger generation by working with local, city, and state non-profit organizations to promote a better, safer biking culture at Berkeley High School and on the streets of Berkeley. Our advocacy group can be modeled at other high schools, so that we can create a network of pro-bike, student-run movements in the Bay Area, California, and beyond.
WHAT WE DO
EDUCATION
Bike safety is BBH’s highest priority. We promote safe urban riding and bring in experts to host free workshops for Berkeley High students. We compile and share data via our newsletter on bike safety in our city—and how and where it can improve.
ADVOCACY
Bike Berkeley High works with non-profits like Berkeley Citizens for Safe Streets and Bike East Bay to advocate for safer streets for all cyclists. Whether at the city, county, or state government level, we’re committed to making the priorities of bicycle commuters and casual riders heard.
HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT
Bike Berkeley High brings awareness to the many positive impacts of cycling, from environmental (more cyclists means less car drivers—and that helps offset carbon usage) to physical health and emotional wellness.
